Valentine's Day

Mmmm! My personal favorite holiday. I love the shapes, colors, phrases and the tastes! I have always loved Valentine's Day. Even as a young girl I would so carefully plan my Valentine's to take to school. Being a mom of all boys, I would so carefully plan their Valentine's to take to school. No, not really to that extreme. I had to hold myself back! I have made sugar cookies for as long as I can remember for this holiday. This year it sort of crept up on me. So Tim and I through a batch together on Saturday night. We did not have any red food coloring to make pink frosting so we used the red sprinkles that we used at Christmas. Oh well, the art of improvising!

Follow Through Can Be Creative!

This year my focus is to follow through with my goals. I have started walking outside or on the treadmill at least 3 times in a week. I have started making a piece of art for the family room. I am mostly excited about the art project. The exercising is a major chore but, I know I need to have follow through here! I love being creative. It is like therapy to me. I am a happier person if I can make or create something that I connect with. I have chosen to replicate antique game boards. This is trial and error as to the sizing and colors. I am finding out that I made the design or game part on the first game board a bit bigger than I really wanted. The other focus I feel that is important for me, is to work with it and not abandon the project because it didn't turn out exactly how I envisioned. I am still very pleased with the look and will continue to make other game boards.

Resolutions

I actually love the beginning of a new year. It really does present itself with opportunities for renewal. Often the same resolutions are made like eating better, cleaning something out, exercizing more, etc. I don't feel it's stale to make the same resolutions. We are creatures of habit anyway. Our repetetive New Year's resolutions show's us what we know we need to work on continually. Maybe the newness part can be how we tackle these resolutions. My list for 2010 include eating better foods, cooking more, organizing my bedroom closet to make a craft area, creating another piece of art for our house (I've vowed to mostly place things that I've created on the walls of our home), exercizing at least 3 times a week, having my grandkids over individually more often, reducing our debt, taking a class (undecided what type) and of course writing on the blog more often. I'm sure other ideas will come my way. My list would be much longer if I didn't work also. Actually, the list looks like life in general. The New Year brings me new hope that I will be successful in some things and better in others. Happy 2010!
